Back to Church Sunday was held around our Diocese on Sunday, September 13. People participated by inviting someone special back to church with them.

97% of parishes in the Diocese registered to be a part of Back to Church Sunday, a fact that Fr Stephen Pullin said provided a great opportunity for us to reach out as a diocese and share the good news of Jesus with others.
"These people have, in the past, been a part of the story, but for some reason are not at present a part of a worshipping community.
"I know that we will see God’s blessing as we faithfully take up this challenge and privilege," he said.
The Parish of Wingham had a successful Back to Church Sunday introducing puppets into the service (as pictured) to offer an inviting approach to welcome newcomers back to church.
At the Parish of Merewether Back to Church Sunday was held a week earlier, for a special reason. It was not only Back to Church Sunday, but also Back INTO Church Sunday following the church's recent renovations.
Merewether's Back to Church Sunday was a huge success. People responded enthusiastically to invitations, not just to see how the church looks, but to be part of the church family.
