Family Ministry

In a number of recent surveys it has been widely acknowledged that over 70% of people come to faith under the age of 21 years of age - most people will be in their early to mid teenage years. There are many ways that young people come to faith, but the statistics show (and probably it is your own personal experience) that it was a key person making an effort to walk beside you that was the reason  you came to faith.

That key person could be a parent, grandparent, youth minister, parish priest, a mate - anyone who cares for you and is willing to be a support, listening ear, advisor and confidant. The real key is being willing to walk together and accompany each other - the journey needs to be shared, it is not mentoring.

The model of accompanying is one that can work within any other model such as youth groups, bible studies and small groups. In fact, for these models to work well, it is an essential part.
