The ‘Creative SRE Conference’ for SRE teachers and children’s ministers around the Hunter is on again. 2008 will be the third conference organized by the CCRESST (Committee for Christian Religious Education in Schools Support and training) group with their aim to provide current techniques and ministry ideas to people teaching or working with children in the Newcastle region. Our theme this year is ‘With These Hands’ focusing on many practical and effective skills that can be employed in classrooms to help engage children with biblical stories and themes. Our Keynote speakerLocal boy Andrew Chinn is experienced in presenting workshops and concerts with children, teachers and parents. He has his own music label Butterfly Music which he describes as “music of faith and fun for children”. As Christians, the butterfly offers that powerful image of new life. Andrew’s teaching background is evident in the way he helps children and adults alike to learn and worship through his music – in a most engaging and enjoyable way! We hope that Andrew’s energetic personality, sessions and music will inspire you to launch back into your teaching environments, armed with new energy and musical tools to help you as you teach. WorkshopsThis year we have 6 workshops on offer! Double the amount that were provided at the last Creative SRE Conference in 2006. And for the first time we are offering brand new workshops on dealing with classroom behaviour and ‘Smartboards.’ This year you as a participant can select any 2 from the following list:
